I saw this video today, and I just had to share. How would you like to go to London and actually be in the next Star Wars movie? Hang out with the cast…like the cast. I’m wondering does that mean Harrison Ford and Carrie Fischer or does that mean minor characters?
Because meeting Han Solo and Indiana Jones…those characters are integral to my childhood. Who am I kidding? When I was a kid I didn’t want to be Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. If I was going to be a princess it was going to be Princess Leia. (Do I want to know if there are pictures to prove this? There was an awesome T-shirt I remember though…)
My mom used to decorate beautiful cakes, and when I was a kid she usually made my birthday cake herself. The year I asked for a Star Wars cake, she made me R2D2. (Now, I wish I had pictures of that birthday party.) It was absolutely amazing, and I don’t even want to think about how long she spent decorating that sucker. (I have a pretty awesome mom.) I do remember being reluctant to actually eat it because it looked so incredible. (However, I was a kid. The reluctance didn’t last long!)
Growing up we had The Empire Strikes Back, get this, on vinyl. This wasn’t just the soundtrack either, it was the story with dialogue and music. My sister and I (mostly just me) would sit in front of either my FischerPrice record player or, if we were lucky, my parents’ turntable with the records playing and the cover open to see the stills from the movie. (Yes, this was even before VHS. No, I don’t want to talk about how old that makes me.)
Now that I’ve taken a trip through my childhood, here’s the best part of this contest J. J. Abrams is talking about. It is all done through Omaze as Star Wars: Force for Change to benefit UNICEF. You know UNICEF, right? The organization dedicated to saving kids through providing things like:
-
Lifesaving vaccines and insecticide-treated bed nets
-
Emergency relief following natural disasters
-
Educational opportunities and School-in-a-Box kits
-
And much more (www.unicefusa.org)
To enter, just go to Omaze (www.omaze.com/starwars) and there’s a big “Enter to Win” button. There are different levels of entries and rewards that go along with each level. Now to check my budget…
May the force be with you.
Jessica
I had Star Wars on vinyl with a gatefold cover and pics form the movie, (which was cool to have when there was no such thing as Google image search), and the Cantina Band single.
I would be willing to appear in Ep7, but they have to bring the cameras and actors to me. Do you think JJ Abrams will give in to my demands?
That’s awesome. 🙂
I don’t know if JJ would be flexible on the location. They are in the studio though, and that can go just about anywhere with enough space, right?
Just mail me a green screen and tell me where to stand.
