Happy!

I learned a line dance to this song last week. My friend is going to use it at her wedding. Fun stuff, I’m telling you.  That whole shebang will be going down a week from today.

What do you have going on this weekend?

For me, I’m headed to the Farmers’ Market bright and early tomorrow morning…fortunately the Cherry Street Coffee House is right there, and they make an awesome chai tea. If you don’t get a to-go cup, the large comes in a mug as big as a soup bowl…definitely going to be doing that.

There is a possibility that I’ll fire up the grill for the first time this year also…maybe steaks and some veggies from the Farmers’ Market? Sounds good to me!

A short story is in need of some major editing, and its calling my name.  It needed to sit on the “shelf” for a while to give me some distance before I attack it with a red pen.  Today it’s calling my name, so I think the wait is finally over.  I’m inspired, in no small part, by the tale I created to make one of my friends nervous about her security alarm going off for no particular reason…I need to remind her of that before she leaves…There’s a reason I like Cards Against Humanity so much.

Oh!  Cards Against Humanity!  A friend is staying with me all weekend…this may necessitate a gathering of individuals to play a card game…hmmm…

Sunday it is supposed to rain, but that just means that I will definitely finally see Dallas Buyers Club and maybe even Divergent…maybe, possibly…it could finally happen.

‘Til next time,

Jessica

P.S. What about that furniture I’m refinishing, you ask?  P.R.O.C.R.A.S.T.I.N.A.T.I.O.N…

Still Happy!

Ladies and Gentlemen, my work week is at an end.

Tonight I celebrate my father’s birthday. (Happy birthday, Dad!!) We’ll have tasty Mexican food (or as Mexican as Tulsa really gets, which is not actually all that Mexican.  Also, if you know where I can get real Mexican food in Tulsa, let me know.) laugh, tell stories (we’re good at that) and then…well, someone will decide and we’ll do something else. (At last check, nothing was decided…that could have changed.)

After that, I got nothing….let me tell you, that is grand. It makes me (you guessed it)…happy. Saturday and Sunday all with nothing that needs to be done, just what I want to do. (Laundry and basic house maintenancey things don’t count, because they. never. end. Sometimes…being an adult sucks.)  Movies, music, reading, legos, at least one random act of kindness (truly random, because I have no idea what I’ll do) and possibly actually, finally, finishing the furniture project I started…I don’t even remember when at this point. (Procrastination.  It isn’t pretty but it is real.)  The forecast calls for rain on Sunday, which is perfect for snuggling up with a good book or movie.  Also, I have a need to finish Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl.  I have suspicions…hmm…

Dexter has also become fond of tug-of-war outside.  He doesn’t have to worry about knocking over anything, apparently that also includes me, and he wins more often.  A dog toy scavenger hunt is also apparently planned, since most of Dex’s toys are no longer inside…how well do you think he hid them?

What do you have planned? Do your pets hide toys too?

‘Til next time,

Jessica

The Longest Week….

The week is finally at an end. Man, it took a long time getting here, too. This weekend will be an incredibly busy one, but so much fun! Tomorrow is finally the Mad Hatter Tea Party Bridal Shower. Sunday is the Medieval Fair in Norman, OK, where I’ll get to reconnect with some great friends. Then the work week begins super early…super early… So, I’ve got a question for you….This song…what do you think?  Are you tired of it yet?  Ready for something new?  Let me know in the poll below.

‘Til next time,

Jessica

Hooray For the Weekend!

No, I’m still not tired of this song. Are you?

Tonight I’m going to see The Great Budapest Hotel at Circle Cinema.  I’ve heard really good things about it.  I like Wes Anderson films, and this one has something like 15 Oscar nominees in it.

Last weekend I wanted to go see Divergent, but that didn’t happen.  I’m in a movie watching mood, so it is a possibility this weekend.

I just listened to the Nerdist Podcast with Jared Leto.  (It is from St. Pat’s.  I’m behind.) He was talking about the film they made, Artifact, about being sued by their record company. I’ve heard really great things about it, but I haven’t seen it yet. Have you? What did you think?  Of course, he’s also talking about Dallas Buyers Club.  I haven’t seen that yet, but it is next on my Netflix list.  Have you seen it?  What did you think?

“Til next time,

Jessica

be a love and pass the wineP.S. A friend sent me a text this morning telling me to “behave” this weekend.  Just so you know.  That’s not going to happen.

P.P.S.  Just as a note, I have had tickets to go see 30 Seconds to Mars twice, and I couldn’t go.  TWICE… did I mention twice?  I looooovvvveeee this band, and I’ve missed out on seeing them live TWICE.

P.P.P.S.  I also have a friend who met Shannon Leto after a show and went up to him and said, “Congratulations!”  If I remember right, she said his response was “for what?”  She meets more famous people than I ever will.  As far as I know, this was about as together as it gets when that happens. 😉

Here’s My Weekend…

I know.  I know.  It is a bit repetitive, but I can’t stop singing this song!  It’s like a Pavlovian response now.  I realize it’s Friday, and the song starts playing in my head.  What can you do but pass it on?  (I also think of the movie Friday.  “You ain’t got no job…” Every. Time.)

This weekend it is all about taste testing some cupcakes for a Bridal Shower/Bachelorette party I’m throwing (Mad Hatter Tea Party anyone?).  Have I mentioned I like theme parties?  (There is a Sherlock Party post coming soon. Promise)  So far, I love, love, love this Mad Hatter Tea Party theme.  There are so many possibilities!!

Tonight, a local used book store is having a Ladies Night, and it is buy one get one free (I think).  Of course, I’m going to a book store after two people have told me it would be easier to stop buying books than buy more bookshelves.  Silly people… Not to mention, this is where I end up getting most of my comic books. (Thank you for the recommendations! Keep them coming!)

I’m finally going to watch Catching Fire and possibly Divergent.  Apparently, it is also YA movie adaptation weekend.  Here’s to hoping they do a better job than they did with Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Also, I may go to the zoo.  Yep, maybe the zoo.  “Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!” Maybe finally finishing the furniture I started re-finishing like a month ago.  We’ll see how motivated I’m feeling.  Honestly, I’m not holding out much hope for that furniture, but there is still a tiny sliver of possibility there. (There are also books to be read…which will win?  Work?  Books? Zoo? All of the above?)

As I’m looking at this, and the list of normal stuff that has to get done (grocery shopping, laundry, etc.), I think I may have figured out why I’m tired…ah, oh well, who needs sleep?

So what’s going on with you this weekend?

‘Til next time,
Jessica

P.S. Have you ever accidentally ordered a foreign film from Netflix?  I have…twice now.

P.P.S. Sorry for the rambling…I can’t stop…still…

Welcome to the Weekend

That’s right, it is time for the Pharrell Williams “Happy” video again. I just can’t get enough of listening to this song! Every time I hear it, I want to smile and dance…it makes me happy.

Also, it is Friday!  We may have a cool rainy weekend ahead of us here, but it is still the weekend.

I’m Feeling Happy!

Ah, yes. It is Friday again, and I am happy! This weekend, I have a Sherlock Party for a dear friend’s birthday (or rather I’m using her birthday as an excuse to have a Sherlock party). I promise there will be pictures and everything.

Now, it’s time to bust out the Friday song. (No, I don’t mean the movie Friday.) So, kicking off your weekend and mine in the right kind of way….a little music. What are you doing this weekend?
‘Til next time,
Jessica

P.S. This was supposed to go out at like 4:30 CST…and that’s a pretty perfect example of my week.  Thankfully, it is well and truly over now!

LEGO + Doctor Who = Happy I Love Geekology

So, there I was just bouncing through the web.  A little bored, and definitely ready for the weekend when I came across Geeks of Doom.  Definitely worth checking out, right?  There I found the post that made my day. (Maybe even my week.  It’s been a little rough.)  LEGO CUUSOO is accepting fan submissions for Doctor Who LEGOs.  Yip-eee!

What’s the big deal, you ask?  Well, back when I discovered this nifty little site, I poked around to see if I could find any Doctor Who sets, because…just because.  When I searched for Doctor Who I found the following message.

Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties. We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren’t able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can’t secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party. If such a conflict goes away, we’ll then be able to accept projects based on a particular brand or license.

Bummer.  That is just no fun at all.  The licensing conflict has been resolved, and the floor is open for submissions.  When I searched the site today, I find 29 submitted projects.  Most of these have gone up in the last 5 hours.  Yes, please.  Do you know what that makes me?

Yes, indeed.  This makes me happy.  Also, this may be my official Friday afternoon song…Whovians the world over are one step closer to getting the Doctor Who Lego sets they’ve been clamoring for.  Personally, I’m glad someone will give me directions for making the inside of the TARDIS…I wasn’t doing so well on my own.

‘Til next time,

Jessica

The Weekend Begins In 3….2…1….

See what happens when you take a peek at your Twitter? Sebastian Roche posts a video of Pharrell Williams’s “Happy”…now I’m singing and dancing in my cubicle counting down until the weekend begins.
