20 Words We Owe to William Shakespeare
Thank you, Mental Floss. I’m feeling a bit…vindicated this afternoon. Have you ever just come across a situation that the common vernacular didn’t cover? So did Shakespeare. His solution…make up a word that conveyed what he wanted. How much poorer would the English language have been if Shakespeare didn’t do the same thing. Also, it is good for people to know that my habit of creating “new” words comes from a great tradition started by The Bard himself. 🙂
