Just in time to put people in the mood for Halloween, an ad came to my attention.

I read about this National Theatre performance of Frankenstein a few months ago, and I longed to go see it. Now, I see an ad that they are playing it in movie theaters in the UK. I didn’t even know there was a film version! Does that mean there will be a DVD? Please let there be a DVD.
Johnny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch both star in this production. Two brilliant actors…who both play a brilliant Sherlock Holmes. Playing both the creation and the creator from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein I’m fairly certain that some of the lines in the video below are directly from the book. (Although, please do not quote me on that, it has been years and years since I read it.) Just watching this makes me want to read the book again, as I fervently hope for a DVD of this performance…of these performances, because the actors switched roles during the run of the play. If you haven’t read the book before, I highly recommend it.
Can you imagine? I can imagine…for right now I can only imagine. Did I mention I need a DVD/Blu-Ray/iTunes Download…something?
‘Til next time,
Jessica

It would be interesting. The professor doesn’t know about it at all. I’m sure it will be spooky, though.
I don’t know about a DVD, but I do know they are showing it at several movie theaters in the US as well. Of course it is not anywhere near SC. I e-mailed the National and asked them if were planning on doing any kind of streaming option for people who couldn’t get to one of the theaters. They did respond, which amazed me, but they said they didn’t have any plan for a streaming option. So, unless they do a DVD option, I guess I’m out of luck.
If you go to the National Theater’s website, you can search where they are showing it in the US. You might be lucky enough to be close to one of them.
You are amazing! I did not see they were showing this in the US at all, and they are doing a showing in Tulsa on Saturday! Now, I should have just enough time to get from the University of Tulsa football game that starts at 2:30 to the theater for the 6:30 showing…hopefully there is no overtime…It will be close, but I think I can manage. Thank you!
You are most welcome! Hope it is amazing! I know it will be with those guys in it. 🙂
I’m totally geeking out! I just checked to see if they added anymore showings and they have!!! I’ll have to drive 3 hours to get to it, but at least I will see it! It won’t be here until January so be sure to give me the scoop about how good it is!!
That is so awesome! I had finally stopped geeking out about going myself, but now I’ve started geeking out for you! I’ll definitely let you know how it is. 🙂
